Glimpses of SSA. Mission Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission, a flagship programme implemented under the Ministry of H.R.D. Govt. of India throughout the state with an objectives to provide eight years of Elementary Education to all children in the age group 0f six to fourteen years irrespective of caste, religion , race, gender and economic status. After, 86th amendment of the Indian Constitution in 2002, it has become the fundamental right of every child to access free and compulsory quality primary education. The Mission was launched during 2001-02 in the country and a significant progress has been achieved till the last financial year in the field of access, retention and to some extent the quality aspects in the district/state at par with the other parts of the country. The enactment out of the Act for Right for free and compulsory elementary education has further escalated towards the goals committed for achievement of universalisation of elementary education through fulfillment of the provisions laid down in the Act as a mandate for the state as well as for other stake holders. Special focus has been expanded to the areas dominated by the disadvantaged groups like the minorities Schedule Tribes, Schedule Castes, Tea Tribes, Children with special needs, deprived urban children, child labour, girl child remained out of school, children living with geographical barriers to access primary education. The holistic approach with a ambitious vision may certainly lead to the goal for upholding of the right of children in the days to come.
